“Stella Farnan’s songs carry the golden warmth of nostalgia while rumbling with the vibrance of the present. Her dew-drop-fresh voice delivers catchy melodies that soar across and creep amongst rich pop-rock textures with a soul-bearing honesty that scrutinises sentimentality and apathy within and without.

After her first two single releases, Stella already earned national radio play on Triple J and community radio, was listed in The AU Review’s 2020 artists to watch and given the Darebin Songwriters Award. Since then, Stella and her band Soren Maryasin (Soren, The Teskey Brothers engineering), Gab Strum (Japanese Wallpaper) and Elena Jones (Sunfruits) have supported acts including Ali Barter and Tulliah, and played alongside Alex Lahey, Japanese Wallpaper, Gretta Ray and Alice Ivy in a bushfire benefit show. Stella's first single of 2021 'Boxes' was also added to Unearthed Radio rotation.
In 2017, Stella was navigating the tumultuous tightrope of adolescence when she crawled away to the old family piano in search of comfort. Writing ‘The Blue’ returned to the foundational piano-and-voice-in-a-room, creating a space to momentarily indulge in those feelings of defeat before directing a step forward. The chorus’ mantra ‘Maybe I should take mine’ is both a self-criticism and self-encouragement - when all other avenues have been exhausted, take your own advice.

Stella’s debut EP will be released later in 2021."
